Welcome, Spring! And, welcome, dear readers!
It’s that time of year again when new greenery greets us, the sun starts to thaw us out, and the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival brings us an onslaught of exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, public art, and events. I’m pretty darned giddy about it.
The festival programming can be a bit overwhelming, so here is a list of the events and shows that have yours truly most excited. I’ve chosen one event for each day of the week to keep you busy. If you want more options, click on over to the festival's website.
Hot Docs: Strand - Under the Dark Cloth film screening. May 1, 3:15pm.
Edwin Blumenfeld: From Dada to Vogue Reception and Gallery Talk. May 2, 5-8:30.
Broadbent Sisters Launch. May 3, 7-10.
Isolation Group Exhibition Opening. May 4, 6-9.
Beyond the Flat: Photography as Sculpture Workshop. May 5, 12-4.
“Limited Edition” Pop-up Studio. May 6, 10-5.
On Monday , there are no events listed, so I recommend you just get out and shoot!
Otherwise, you can treat your tummy well by visiting my better half’s brand spankin' new restaurant, Where the River Narrows, at 452 Kingston Road (at Brookside Dr.).
The food's fantastic! And, the guy in the kitchen is some pretty great eye candy as well, in my humble opinion.
